My name is Lauren Hendrix and I was born and raised in Birmingham, AL. I now live in Birmingham permanently with my husband and two children after living in Houston, TX for 9 years and Washington D.C for 2. I received my Doctorate in Physical Therapy while living in Houston and now serve as the Director of our Run Program at EW Motion Therapy in Homewood two days/week. I also teach a Running Rehab Specialist certification course nationally through the Institute for Athlete Regeneration. I grew up running mainly for “fun” while trying to stay in shape for soccer and basketball, which I played all through high school. Running was always something I enjoyed though, and while in PT school it became my go-to stress reliever and exercise choice between course work. I ran my first marathon in 2018 in Houston, TX and was hooked. I have run consistently run ever since, with two brief hiatuses to welcome my son and daughter. I ran my second marathon in 2022 in Seattle, Washington with plans to run 2-3/year moving forward. When not on the road, you’ll find me hanging with my family at the lake or cheering on the Crimson Tide! Teaching has always been a passion of mine, so being able to combine my love for running with the opportunity to coach is truly a dream come true. I look forward to helping other athletes reach their running goals one day at a time, while also juggling “life” which can include work, kids, injury, etc. A unique feature I hope my athletes will take advantage of is my background of physical therapy to minimize risk of injury and stay healthy while training.
