I was looking for a coach to help me achieve “my best possible marathon time” for the Chicago Marathon in 2019. It was going to be my last marathon and I wanted to go out feeling like I had done my best. What I found was so much more. I had a previous personal best of 4:37. Cary made a plan for me and believed in me more than I believed in myself. I came away from Chicago with a 3:53, a renewed love for running and a hunger for more. Even after exceeding my goal, I still did not see my full potential. But Cary did. He made perfect training and race plans, planting seeds of confidence along the way. My job was to just put in the work, which I did. While the workouts were not easy, I was able to maintain a full time job, being a mom, and a few central Florida hurricanes thrown in too. Fast forward six years, I am now a Boston Marathoner!!! I met the qualifying standard twice. He believed in me and this crazy goal of mine, even when I couldn’t. Cary adjusted plans when I needed it, gave me grace when I needed it, and pushed me when needed too. While I don’t live in Birmingham, Cary is just a phone call or text away. He is always there for his runners. In distance running, I believe that consistency is key. Cary is consistently THE BEST! I have also had the opportunity to meet some of the other Cadence coaches and athletes…they are all just the best and most welcoming. If you put in the work, this group will get you to the finish line and beyond."
